Phase 3b: Shell and Core Construction of a New Four-Storey over Two-Storey Basement Structure: Works include the construction of a new weather tight four-storey over two storey basement rear extension (716 m²) to the Protected Structure including lift and stair cores, external finishes, glazing, primary and secondary steel and masonry works. The protected structure and new extension will be linked by an atrium space with glazed roof and connecting walkways, which will be constructed as part of this phase. Restoration works will also be carried out to the basement walls and floor of the Protected Structure including a new floor slab, drainage and waterproofing detailing with continuity into the extension. M and E service installations will not be included in this phase.

The Centre will stand as a site of conscience that will honour equally all those who were resident in Industrial Schools, Reformatories, Magdalen Laundries, Mother and Baby Homes and related institutions. It will comprise the following: The provision of the National Centre Museum and Research Centre (total circa 7510m2) with a purpose built archival repository/storage space (circa 4,030m2, 3-4 storeys over circa 1,300m2 basement). This will comprise the restoration and remodelling of the existing convent blocks and chapel (circa 3,5490m2). There will also be a new L shaped building, which will enclose a garden of reflection. The National Centre will include extensive document repositories at basement levels; exhibitions spaces, conservation laboratories, and technical spaces at ground level; and public reading rooms at first floor level; The provision of a new multi storey multi-functional Educational Facility (circa 3,690m2 of new 3-5 storey building over basement) comprising of large and small teaching rooms, study spaces, offices, social space to support further and higher education. Classes, seminars, workshops and other events will be delivered from the site with access open to the local community to attend. (refer to Appendix D for preliminary layouts). The provision of Community based Family and Parenting Support Facilities (circa 1,195m2 divided between the two sites 2-3 storeys), within two existing buildings – a new building behind the former Scots Church facade, a protected structure, and the former Dispensary building. This will provide purpose-built spaces such as teaching and play spaces, offices, meeting rooms, workshop space; external play spaces etc.

New CT and ICU Extension - Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown
The new CT and ICU development at Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown forms an extension to the existing hospital and includes local renovations of the main hospital buildings where the new building connects to existing accommodation at ground and first floor level. The development is located on a constrained site which is enclosed on 3 sides by sensitive clinical accommodation including theatres, HDU, and Radiology. The hospital’s emergency department and blue light access route is located directly to the north of the site. Live hospital services must be maintained for the duration of construction. The development is comprised of 3 storeys as set out below: Ground Floor Level: The ground floor includes a new reception and waiting area for the hospital’s radiology department as well as administrative and support areas including offices, WCs and changing areas. The ground floor also includes a new CT scanner suite and associated control room and local plant space. The ground floor has a number of critical interfaces and tie-ins with existing buildings including the emergency department and existing radiology department. First Floor Level: The first floor of the proposed development provides a new ICU facility for the hospital which includes 4 no. segregated ICU patient rooms and 1 no. isolation suite as well as ancillary spaces and general support accommodation for staff and equipment. This floor will directly connect with the existing theatres and HDU by way of a high-level link which will require local reconfiguration of the Theatre and HDU departments and modification of existing building fabric similar to at ground floor level. Second Floor Level: The second floor contains an enclosed, dedicated plant room to serve the CT and ICU levels below. A new stair core and evacuation lift is proposed to serve all levels of the extension.

On 4 April 2024, the Danish Parliament adopted the Act on the Upgrade of the Øresund Rail-way, which provides that two passing tracks shall be constructed at Kalvebod. A/S Øresund has been tasked by the Ministry of Transport to carry out the project 'Passing Track Kalvebod’. Several preliminary studies have been conducted to date, and material relating thereto is available at: https://sundogbaelt.dk/forbindelser/overhalingsspor/. The project thus comprises the establishment of two new tracks parallel to the two existing tracks. The project also includes a reconstruction of the Hammelstrupvej Bridge to accommodate four tracks instead of the current two tracks, and the replacement of two footbridges over the railway. The two new tracks shall have new catenary systems installed consisting of cantilever masts covering both tracks. The current neutral section shall also be relocated and pumping station 2 shall undergo certain modifications to make room for the new tracks. Sheet piling shall be installed along the entire stretch to retain the embankment and provide space for the two new tracks. The Passing Tracks Kalvebod project is being implemented in two sub-projects: Sub-project 1 “Structures and Civil Works” (“SP1”) and Sub-project 2 ”Track and Catenary” (“SP2”). SP1 comprises earthworks, drainage, structures and high-voltage installations (civil and construction works). SP2 comprises track and catenary (railway infrastructure). The execution of SP1 has been tendered as a separate design and build contract. The Contracting Entity has entered into a contract with the design and build contractor, and the works under that con-tract are ongoing. This tender concerns the contract regarding SP2, which comprises track and catenary (rail-way infrastructure). The activities in SP2 build upon the works carried out by the contractor for SP1. The project's safety objective is to maintain the existing safety level. A/S Øresund is the project owner and entity in charge of maintenance, whilst Banedanmark is the infrastructure manager.
