The aim of the project is to carry out an updated assessment of ecological condition in Norwegian mountain ecosystems in accordance with the index method, as well as follow-up development needs. The condition assessments shall be carried out at both national and regional levels. If the data basis is assessed well enough, it shall also be assessed at the county level, as well as in the low, middle and high-alpine zones.

Durchführung einer aktualisierten Bewertung des ökologischen Zustands norwegischer Gebirgsökosysteme mittels Indexmethode sowie Ermittlung von Entwicklungsbedarfen. Die Zustandsbewertungen erfolgen auf nationaler und regionaler Ebene. Bei ausreichender Datenlage ist eine Auswertung auf Kreisebene sowie für die niedere, mittlere und hochalpine Zone vorgesehen.
Stocks of hops and day butterflies are monitored to document the condition and uncover changes over time. Data from the monitoring programme are indicators of the open lowland and forest ecosystems in the Nature Index for Norway, which is further included in the Ecological Condition Trade System. The monitoring programme also provides follow-up of the national pollinator strategy. Questions asked during the Christmas holiday will be answered 5 January 2026 at the earliest.
