Athletic Union League Football / Soccer Pitches Construction
The MetroLink programme represents a transformative infrastructure investment that necessitates significant land use changes along its alignment. As part of these changes, existing sports facilities, including soccer pitches, will be displaced to accommodate the construction of the new metro system. To mitigate the impact on local communities and maintain continuity of sporting activities, it is essential to deliver high-quality replacement facilities in advance of or in parallel with the main works. The scope of works includes the construction of one full-size all-weather soccer pitch and one full-size natural grass pitch, together with associated infrastructure such as pitch lighting, fencing, drainage systems, a clubhouse, pedestrian access, and ancillary amenities. Met Éireann maintains a national infrastructure of instrumentation for monitoring meteorological and environmental observations and measurements. Many of these are at unmanned locations and are referred to as Automatic Weather Stations (AWS), where the data is processed for inclusion into synoptic code by data loggers. Visibility and present weather observations form part of this remit and specialist sensors are used for the detection, identification and measurement of the relevant parameters. Instruments incorporating some or all of these sensors are referred to as Present Weather Sensors (PWS) and will be referred to “PWS” in this and any associated documentation. As many of these PSWs have reached their anticipated end of service life, Met Éireann is proposing to buy replacement and additional instruments, through this RFT, in addition to procuring ancillaries, spares, training and support.
