The assignment shall contribute with data on stock development and spreading of nesting species in Norway, with particular focus on changes over time and geographical differences. The programme shall provide information on which species are in decline, stable or in growth, and whether changes in bird communities can indicate environmental changes in different nature types. Stocks of hops and day butterflies are monitored to document the condition and uncover changes over time. Data from the monitoring programme are indicators of the open lowland and forest ecosystems in the Nature Index for Norway, which is further included in the Ecological Condition Trade System. The monitoring programme also provides follow-up of the national pollinator strategy. Questions asked during the Christmas holiday will be answered 5 January 2026 at the earliest.
